Activities and Learning

Usual Activities

It has been a lively week at GCCT, with guests joining in and spending quality time with our members. These visits bring joy, fresh perspectives, and a strong sense of belonging to our community.

English Classes

Classes were busy this week, with members showing steady dedication to learning and improving. It’s never too late to strengthen skills and open new opportunities, and we are proud of every learner’s progress.

We recently received a moving email from the principal of East Tamaki Primary School in Otara, who shared some powerful stories about the school’s whānau. These stories highlight the positive impact that Good Care Community Trust is having on the wider community.

One father, who could no longer afford to fix his family car, expressed deep gratitude for the healthy breakfasts his children receive through the programme. Another mother, caring for her husband in the final stages of cancer, shared how a large food parcel from us brought comfort and support to her family during such a difficult time.

These are just a couple of examples among many families who have been able to benefit from healthy breakfasts and food parcels. The school also shared plans to reward excellent attendance by gifting healthy food parcels to deserving children and their families. Stories like these remind us why our work matters and why we remain committed to supporting our schools, whānau, and the wider community.

This past week has been filled with plenty of activities at the Centre, keeping everyone engaged and connected.

On Tuesday 9 September, we had a fantastic time serving a delicious lunch to our members. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying the food, sharing stories, and celebrating the true spirit of community. The room was full of energy, and the atmosphere reminded us all how important these gatherings are.

Alongside this, our English learning classes continue to grow in strength. It is always inspiring to watch members of all ages participate and show commitment to learning. The classes are a reminder that it is never too late to learn, and that age should never be a barrier to growth or opportunity. Every lesson is another step forward, and it is wonderful to see the confidence building in our learners each week.
